My birthday has come around again! Continuing with the new tradition of going away for my birthday, Lucas, Courtney and I went to Sechelt, British Columbia for the weekend.

Friday night, we hoped on the last ferry from Horseshoe Bay so it was close to 1am by the time we arrived.

We settled in for the night since it was too late to do any sort of exploring, but I did stand out on the patio for awhile to watch the stars and listen to the waves crashing against the shore. Incredibly relaxing.

The next morning, I woke up much earlier than anyone else so I sat on the beach to watch the sunrise until I got too cold. Because despite it being a beautiful day, it was still January, after all 😂

Once Lucas and Courtney woke up, we went to a cute little cafe called The Bakery, where we got some pastries and caffeinated beverages to wake us up a bit more. There was a cute little Winter Market at the city center so we checked that out. I found a really cute pair of glasses at one of the booths and ended up getting my prescription put into the lenses.

After the market, we had lunch at Halfmoon General, which had super tasty sandwiches, then we went down to the beach and walked along the pier. It was such a nice day. A little chilly with the wind, but the sun was warm and it wasn’t crowded like I imagine it would be in the summer.

After the stroll along the beach, we decided to check out the Smuggler’s Cove hiking trail. We weren’t able to see the whole thing since there wasn’t much sunlight left, but we got pretty far, and what we did see was enchanting! Apparently we lucked out because the trail had been closed until recently or they had just opened a new boardwalk area. Either way, a section had just (re)opened so we got to be some of the first to use that path.

By the time we headed back to the car it was just enough time to watch the sun set and spend a little bit of time in the hot tub 🥰

For the last day, we got up and did The Hidden Grove. Yep, another hike. Poor Courtney discovered her Halmark movie plot.

A successful business woman is stranded in the woods, waiting for someone to save her and her Louis Vuitton.

But she was a great sport about it and we saw a lot of the grove. The mossy trees were amazing! Fantasy forest vibes!

The best part about hiking in the winter? You don’t really need to worry about the bears! Though, we did have a pretty mild winter so there was a little fear 😂

We had just enough time to watch one last stroll along the beach before heading head. It was a lovely weekend and I had a relaxing time, which I really needed after a rough couple of months.

I will definitely be back! Maybe in the summer 🤞
